2. Information We Collect To provide the core functionality of the app—mapping and connecting to global Wi-Fi networks—we collect the following data:
Location Data: We request access to your device’s precise location (
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) and coarse location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) to show nearby Wi-Fi hotspots on your map and provide navigation directions.Wi-Fi Network Data: We request access to view and change your Wi-Fi state (
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE,CHANGE_WIFI_STATE). The app actively scans for nearby open Wi-Fi networks (SSIDs) in the background.
3. How We Use Your Information (Crowdsourcing) The Wi-Fi network names (SSIDs) and their corresponding GPS coordinates detected by your device are securely uploaded to our database. This data is collected completely anonymously. It is used strictly to populate and update our global crowdsourced map of open Wi-Fi locations for all users. We do not link this network data to your personal identity, device ID, or IP address.
4. Third-Party Services We use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. These include:
Google Play Services & Google Maps API: For mapping and location plotting.
Google AdMob: For serving advertisements. AdMob may use advertising IDs to serve personalized ads based on your device’s settings.
5. Data Sales and Sharing We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal data or location history to third-party data brokers or marketing agencies. The crowdsourced Wi-Fi map data is kept within our proprietary database.
6. Your Choices and Control You can stop the collection of location and Wi-Fi data at any time by disabling Location Services for the app in your device settings, or by uninstalling the application.
